I love going for walks at this time of the year when the trees are cloaked in beautiful shades of reds and oranges and golds, and the ground beneath is a colourful carpet of crisp autumn leaves.
These are some of the beautiful trees at Park Island, one of our favourite walking spots.
This white-faced heron is a frequent visitor to the stream at Park Island.
Finn and I go for a walk through Plantation Reserve most mornings, usually a great meeting spot for other dog walkers, although on this particular morning I chose a quiet time so I could take some photos of the trees.
I love to pick up little treasures on our walks and display them on a nature shelf that I have in my studio at home.

It seems I can never go home empty-handed; there are always so many interesting things to find!
A beautiful collection of natural things to remember the seasons by. Shadow box material.

Thanks, Shazza! We are having a really mild autumn so far. Haven’t had to light the fire yet! It seems like the seasons get later each year.

Oh fab. Does it ever get really cold?

Not very. In the winter we have frosty mornings, but it rarely falls below 0 degrees celsius. The average winter temps here are usually around 12-16 degrees celsius. My husband is from England and he tells me that I don’t know what it’s like to be really cold!

Haha yeh it can get pretty cold. There again when I read blogs from Canada etc, that puts things into perspective. Still snowy! Yikes.x

This reminds me quite a bit of our neck of the woods…fall is my favourite season although this year, with winter being so long, I am hoping summer will linger a tad more than usual. As always, your photography is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing Christine.

The only trees that turn in autumn where we live are a few planted in a gardens here & there. Our dear eucalypts & other natives retain their greens of various shades.
I love to collect treasures too when I walk in the bush or at the beach. 🙂

We have a lot of eucalypts around here. It is nice to have trees that stay green all year round.

A lovely post I am enjoying reading and seeing. I love your displays from the walks out, by bringing nature back.
The colours of the trees and leaves are so vibrant. I would enjoy walking through there.

The trees look stunning, I love your photos of the autumnal colours and the way the leaves carpet the ground – amazing! I bet Finn enjoys walking there too and you have a lovely collection of natural things 😀. I have a beach collection too. Enjoy your week! Happy and creative wishes! Jo x

This will sound childish but the time I love each Autumn is when you can walk through the woods, leaves have fallen and you can kick your way through the leaves 🙂
